Update - July 28, 2008

Wow!
What a Sunday service! Some may look at just 30 people in a room and think that isn't much, but whenever God shows up the normal becomes super-normal.
August 17Th we will have our first baptism service and currently we have 2 desiring to be baptized. Sunday we were also blessed to have 2 new visitors and a returning guest.
So what made Sunday a wow? "God was here!" A comment made by one of our visitors. We can strive for it, talk about it, try and ask the Spirit to be present, but when someone not plugged into our group notices....that is exciting! (better be getting Amen's!)
Don't doubt the significance of a group of believers who is willing to love with their hearts on their sleeves, their arms wide open, and who carry no pretense about who they are and how God's amazing grace can change lives! Don't miss the opportunity God brings your way to connect with others even if it seems like an insignificant contact, God will use it if you will be faithful.
The vision has been cast...50 people at one service before the end of the month! That may not seem like much, but in the summer as everyone is going here and there, that will be a God thing for us. The great thing is God has already brought at least 50 different souls into our meetings, I am just praying for a concentration of them at once before our launch.
Our launch date has been moved to September 21. The reason for this move is the scheduling of a local all church gathering on September 14 to be held in our new meeting place.
Opportunities to serve: We are still in need of funds to get necessary equipment for launch, we need everyone to help during the biscuits and gravy breakfast, help with the parade float, we will be needing folks to have a special emphasis on greeting and getting information from visitors, prayer warriors are always needed, and we will be needing people who are willing to host a Bible study in their house as we prepare to launch into our new season.
Prayer request: A lot of you are getting the request from Jimmy, but here are some specific to the ministry
1.) Fully funded to what God would have for us to open with.
2.) That we do not become discouraged or allow Satan to cause extra worry or stress
3.) God would send us to people who are far away from Him and bring in those we wouldn't meet in life's normal journey.
4.) That God's Spirit fills every service
5.) That Scott's and Deanna's walk with God and each other are protected.
6.) That this would be the best new work to the glory of God.
You were never created to walk this journey alone. God put in all of us the need for relationship. Don't build walls of "protection" they will only serve to imprison you.
p.s- I know some of you are not from our local area, September 21 would be a great time to come and see what God is doing here! If you need a place to stay, we may be able to help.

Have a blessed Day!

NEW CHURCH MINISTRIES
A CHURCH WITH AN ATTITUDE!

“Let this attitude be in you which was in Christ…who humbled himself… taking on a servants role… and became obedient…” Philippians 2:5-7

Welcome to Atlanta, Illinois!

A bedroom community of 1,700 people located off Interstate 55 halfway between St. Louis, Missouri and Chicago, Illinois. Atlanta is surrounded by a number of similar-size towns as well as some larger communities that may sound familiar…Peoria, Bloomington-Normal, Champaign-Urbana, Decatur and Springfield. Atlanta is off Old Route 66 and the historic attractions are the HW Hawes Grain Elevator, the smiley face water tower that can be seen from the interstate and a 19-foot Paul Bunyons statue.

God lead us to this town in December 2006. Since that time God has given us the opportunity to develop relationships with a number of believers who have a deep desire to impact the town of Atlanta and show the community God’s love for them. We have been called by God to help lead them as we impact our community by initiating a new work that seeks to reach those who do not know God and re-engage those who have been or are hurting.

The group has been meeting informally on Sundays in an elementary school located five miles outside of Atlanta. God has blessed us with a weekly rent of $40 (which will soon increase due to the need more space) as well as a group who already understand the importance of giving. In order to reach the community, we need to raise additional support from others who are willing to partner with us as we join God in this mission. Your monetary support will go toward purchasing needed equipment and supplementing pastoral salaries enabling New Church to launch on September 14, 2008.

We are asking for you to partner with God and us in this endeavor to reach Atlanta and the surrounding communities for Christ. Below is a partial list of items we believe we will need to effectively reach the community. We are seeking partners willing to give a special gift to help with launch expenses as well as those who would be willing to support us over a three-year period. This three-year giving will allow New Church to become well-established.

SOME OF THE ITEMS NEEDED:

Projector – minimum of 3,000 lumens
Sound equipment: wireless microphones, amplifier, monitors, speakers, 24 channel sound board, wired microphones, digital recorder, CD player
Music stands
Computer/laptop to run Sunday services
Computer programs: Windows Office, Easy Worship, record and bookkeeping software
Copier
Small enclosed trailer for storage and transportation of supplies
Totes to carry supplies back and forth each week
Banners
Nursery supplies, children’s church supplies and toys for toddlers to play with
Basic office supplies
Advertising and outreach funding

We covet your prayers and appreciate your time in considering how God may be moving you to be involved in this ministry.

Any further questions can be directed to Scott Wolff at 217-750-1378 or wlffsctt@yahoo.com. (A more detailed ministry plan and budget is available.)

Friday

Please Pray for Staci and Adam Kong and their new baby on the way!

Staci and Adam Kong need your prayers. They are being spiritually suppressed and attacked in their present situation. We ask that you ask Jesus to place a hedge of protection around both of them and their unborn baby.

Sunday

Seth delivers sermon on David from Second Samuel

Seth gave a great sermon on David and his restoration with God. He was a bit camera shy, but I snapped his photo anyway!

New Church - July 6, 2008 - I apologize for the quick photos and bad camera, but I wanted to get something up on the web
