Update August 25, 2008
Greetings,
This past weekend was something great! The family enjoyed a great weekend that I did not think was needed as much as it really was.
Deanna totally surprised her sister for her 50th birthday and we were able to make some contacts and renew relationships as we shared what God has called us to and what he is doing at New Church.
Lots to update on and I apologize for not sending an update for a couple of weeks, but my computer is in counseling for a behavioral problem and is almost over it.
God is the blessed controller of all things! Mom used to say it a lot growing up...and it is soooo true. Our "God willing" launch date of September 21 has been moved to OCTOBER 5. This is due to God letting us know he is still in control and seeing if we are willing to go with His plan or force ours.
We will now be participating in the community service in Atlanta on September 7 at 10a.m as well as in the McLean community service on the 14 at 10a.m. Then I was asked if we would be flexible allowing the American Legion to have a fund-raising dinner in the gym on the 21st till 10a.m.
New Church is about going with God and not asking God to go with us. As these events have come up we have to ask ourselves what is God doing? Our mission is ever expanding irresistible community and what better way to meet that than to rub shoulders with the community instead of being exclusive to ourselves. We have three key words explaining our "church with attitude" slogan from Phil. 2...Humbly....Serve...Obey.
The delay will allow us to actually have a practice service in the gym before we have our opening and we will not be as rushed after our community services.
Chip is the latest victim, I mean servant who filled the pulpit and did a FINE job (so I heard). God has given us men who are willing to share and stretch themselves as they grow in Christ. The next hurdle will be putting all these guys together in a series while I am still there to heckle/encourage them.
Fall festival is coming and we will be ready to serve and engage. We will have an excellent opportunity to let folk know what God is doing as we attend the various functions and serve the breakfast.
Blessings.....lots! Service two weeks ago was awesome with the baptisms that followed, God has provided a laptop and a laser printer for New Church, and it seems that all our needs are being met at just the right time.
Prayer....launch, that we share and reflect God at the fall festival, the physical and financial needs as we approach launch, that God would allow us to grow closer as we prepare for launch, kids in school (college kids too), and continued prayer for Scott and Deanna as we juggle several things right now.
God is great! His greatness allows His goodness to surpass what we think if we stop making demands of Him and allow Him to lead. God's plans and thoughts are much higher than ours, so let's not bog God down with ours but let our request be known.

Update - August 13
Fellow laborers
Today I was reminded of the importance of being ever mindful of our witnessing opportunities.
Last night in golf league I was teamed up with a new player who seemed very interested in my work as a pastor (the guys love to tell everyone I am a reverend...). I just wanted to play and relax not minister or advertise....but God.
During all of this another guy who I have played with a lot started asking more questions about the new work and I just through it out there "you gonna come on opening day.." his response shocked me...."I could do that...we have only been to church once this year."
Wow...I was waiting for some huge God ordained lights from the sky angels singing here is your sign opening to share with him but I just needed to ask.
Then this morning I get a call from one of our partners. She met someone at a store who asked where I was and what was going on. The other lady mentioned something to the effect that she felt out of the loop or maybe even "unwanted" (as per our partners remembrance). Our partner lamented to me that she missed an opportunity because she didn't invite her to church or did not quite know what to say.
Why do we do that? We all know we should share but somehow temporary amnesia sets in... we think we are imposing on them by inviting them to attend a meeting where people will love on them and welcome them as we share in God's grace and mercy together.
All of us have been there and done that.
Maybe we don't share because we don't expect to make or have the opportunities.God give us the boldness to love people in spite of our fears.
Bible study tonight at my house at 7....we are ordering our hats and shirts for the fall festival...the breakfast is getting organized and the float will begin to take shape shortly.
God is blessing by having others partner with us by financially supporting our ministry as we prepare for launch. We still have plenty of wants, but we know God will supply our needs according to his riches.
Prayer: Still the launch date, we need to be inviting new folks, Scott and Deanna as the hectic pace of life is weighing heavy as school begins, our partners as they prepare spiritually and physically for launch, those far from Christ who need Him, Caleb Garey and his family, and the Leisman family.
Have a blessed Day!Scott Wolff

URGENT PRAAYER NEEDED!
Please be in prayer for Doug, Brenda, Clint, and Caleb Garey. Caleb had a bad wreck last night and his passenger was killed.
The family needs our prayers, but also our support. Don't pass any rumors on about what happened our what you heard happen. Please understand that this was an accident with tragic results. Please lift up the family and Caleb.
Doug and Brenda will need support and prayer as well as they deal with their own emotions and feelings while trying to help Caleb.
Have a blessed Day!Scott Wolff
